About the role
The Small Grants Programme (SGP) National Coordinator will lead the implementation of the GEF‑funded SGP at country level, reporting to the Resident Representative (or Deputy Resident Representative) and the SGP Regional Programme Specialist. The role oversees a small team, the National Steering Committee and ensures that community‑based projects receive effective grant support.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise the SGP Country Programme Associate/Assistant, providing guidance, coaching and performance feedback.
- Develop and implement the annual work plan, set delivery and co‑financing targets, and prepare the programme’s budget proposal.
- Manage grant allocations and the country operating budget, ensuring compliance with SGP SOPs and UNOPS regulations.
- Lead stakeholder workshops, support civil‑society organisations in preparing project concepts, and authorise planning grants.
- Monitor ongoing projects through field visits, provide technical support to grantees, and report progress to the Central Programme Management Team.
- Develop and execute resource‑mobilisation strategies, building partnerships with donors, government and development partners.
- Document programme stories, lessons learned and best practices, and facilitate knowledge sharing across the UNDP country office and partners.
